I am proud to be a women in today's society! Being a African American woman makes me even more proud! The women before me fought for the rights that we now have today! Before August 18th 1920, women couldn't vote. Before August 6th 1965 African Americans couldn't not exercise their rights to vote. 57% of women participate in the labor force, 26% of people employed in computer and mathematics occupations are women. We have dominated the education realm. For obtaining bachelor degrees, out of 100% white women have a percentage of 56, black women 65%, Hispanic 60%, Asian 54%, Pacific Islander 56%, Indian 60%, Black women earned 68 percent of all associate degrees awarded to black students, as well as 66 percent of bachelor's degrees, 71 percent of master's degrees and 65 percent of all doctorates awarded to black students.
